About Reaching for Gold

Reaching for Gold has two stages:
Stage 1
Any group aged 14 - 19 living in South East England can apply and tell us about their idea for a product or service that will change the lives of other people in a positive way.
It is very important that you read the guidance notes thoroughly before entering. You can download a PDF copy of the guidance notes here.
To get involved you need to register your interest in the competition by clicking the link at the bottom of the page. When you have done this we will send you a link to the application form, when it is available.
Applications close at 5pm on 29th November 2010.
The applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges made up of voluntary, business and public sector partners.
Stage 2
The nine finalists will be announced in December. If your group get to this stage, the group will be awarded with a special package of hi-tech prizes. From January to March you will receive support and mentoring from experienced voluntary and business partners, to develop your idea into a realistic project.
Having already won a great package of prizes and a once in a lifetime opportunity of mentoring with a mentor from one of the nine companies based in the South East, you will make a pitch for funding to make the project a reality.
Your pitch will be given to a panel of judges and you will be competing against the other finalists for a chance to win £3,000 for first place, £1,500 for second place, £750 for third place.
Reaching for Gold Grand Final and Awards Ceremony
On 29th March you will go to the grand settings of Windsor Castle where you will have a chance to practice your pitch before going in front of the judges. While you wait for the other groups there will be a range of fun activities before the awards ceremony in the evening.
After the event you will have one or two more mentoring session where you can discuss how the pitch went and what plans you have for the future of your project.
